Members register for River Swims Here
BCTC holds Open Water Swims for it's members in the Summer months from April(if weather allows) to September. The Club swims will be Wednesday evenings, meeting at 6pm.
Location: Virginia Forest Recreation Area or at Washington Crossing PA side the last Wednesday of the month when we hold the socials- The Virginia Forest Rec. Area is one mile north of the intersection of Route 263 & River Road, Solebury, PA. The group meets at the Virginia Forest Rec Area. The Washington Crossing location is at the end of Lord Sterling Rd in Washington Crossing Pa. The swim begins either at the beach entry point just south of the quarry or at the Rec area lot. The Washington Crossing location is generally used for the last swim of the month / socials. Take River road to Lord Sterling Rd to the end for the General Washington Pavilion. The Washington Crossing Swim is a shallow water faster current swim perfect for novice open water swimmers.

Wednesday swims are supervised with kayak and/or paddleboard support when possible. This year's swims bring some important changes. You must register via Wild Apricot and you must be a current member. Also you must swim with a buoy, no exceptions.
Never swim alone use the Facebook, WhatsApp or e-mail to communicate who will swim & ride on Sundays. Do not use the RSVP below for Sundays.
Open water swims are unpredictable by nature. The swim distance will generally be one mile (1600m) however it may vary based upon river conditions such as current and weather. For Delaware River Data, here is the link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?01463500
Swim depending on conditions:
Run 1 mile north of the Virginia Forest Rec Area on the canal path and enter the river off the beach area south of the quarry. Swim back down the river appox. 1 mile ending at the Virginia Forest Rec Area
OR
Enter the river at the Virginia Forest Rec Area and swim up river to a desired point based upon river conditions. General distance is 1 mile.
Rules and Supervision: The Open Water Swim is open to BCTC members ONLY. All members should have completed an Olympic distance swim, or have completed a previous season river swim with Anthony Accardo & or BCTC within the past 2 years. You will not feel comfortable in the river if you do not meet these requirements.
Each swim is generally supervised by up to 2 BCTC members. 1 swim lead will be on a paddle board or kayak and responsible for head count. The 2nd swim lead will swim back toward the group with the lifeguard rescue buoy.
While the BCTC will provide supervision on open water swims, by joining the swim group you acknowledge and accept all risk and personal responsibility for yourself and your safety while swimming. Swimmers are required to sign a swim waiver each Wednesday session they attend.

All members must register for each week's swim completing the form below or by email to [email protected]. Members must register by Tuesday evening prior to the Wednesday swim or they will not be able to join the following day. Please wear a brightly colored swim cap to the swim.
