We are excited to announce the 2021 BCTC Feed the Beast race series. This years series registration is now open.
The series will start May 1st.
This year’s series has 9 races, at least 6 will be live races. The other 3 will be a virtual hybrid with organized options to compete in small groups with self-timing. The permit process is exceptionally slow due to many factors, but we can say we feel confident that 6 of the races will be live events most with chip timing.
Saturday 9am, May 1st Touch the Tower 10 miler - Saturday 9am, May 1st Touch the Tower 10 miler- This will be a unique live race with chip timing. It is a hybrid adventure style running race starting in Washington Crossing adjacent to the canal path. Participants must navigate their way to Bowmans Tower via the canal path, take a pic showing they were there and get back via the canal path.
A map and general guidelines will be provided and participants may choose their way up to the Tower either by trail or the long way up the road. This course will not be marked. This is a fun event to get friends to do as a group. Also this is the only event with adult beverages at the finish!
Saturday 8am, May 8th & Sept 25th BCTC Bike Time Trial- This is the 8 mile TT course we have done in the past along Rt.29 from Frenchtown to Bulls Island. The 5/8 event will be a virtual hybrid as the state of NJ is not accepting permits for events in May. So the 5/8 event will be self-timed but there will be option to ride as a group. The 9/25 TT will be a live event!
Thursday 6:30pm, May 20th BCTC Beast Mode 5K- This will be a live event in Core Creek park. We were The race will be mostly paved trail with fields and a gorgeous lakeside trail section.
Wednesday 4:30pm & 6pm, June 9th Mile River Swim- This will be a live chip timed 1 mile swim with the current if we get permission to access the river at the Quarry. If not it will be an up & back swim with approximately 500 meters up river and 1100 meters with the current down.
Thursday 6:30pm, June 17th Peace Valley 10K- This will be a live chip timed 10K running race on the paved paths of Peace Valley park. The event will be an out & back starting at Pavilion #1 off Creek Road.
Saturday, July 25th & 26th BCTC Sprint Tri- This will be a virtual self-timed event with options to race as small groups. We will announce where the group options to swim ride & run will take place.
Saturday 9am, July 31st Mountain Bike XC tournament- This will be a live race with chip timing in Washington Crossing park with a kids course as well. BTW The kids race is free to all children of Members. The race will take place near the camp sites in Washington Crossing park on the NJ side. Participants will complete in heats of 4 riders on the 2 mile loop consisting of fields, with sections of single track with a few features and a climb. The Kids course will be 1 mile exclusively on fields. You may ride the course up to 4 times to post your best time with the 4 best times competing in the championship heat for overall top 3 male & female.
Sunday 8am, November 7th BCTC D.R.R. Half & Olympic Duathlon– D.R.R. stands for the Delaware River Ramble. This race takes place at The Bulls Island Rec area and showcases the beauty of the Delaware river valley. The distances will be 5K run 25.5 mile bike & 5K run for the Olympic (short course). For the Half (long course) Du it will be 5K run 2 loops of the 25.5 mile bike and 15K+ run. The runs will be out & backs on the canal path and the bike will feature a climb up Federal Twist then back down to rt 29 for a fairly flat ride to Frenchtown & back.
The FTB series is open to BCTC members / family members only. Awards for top 3 males and females will be given for each live event with an overall male & female champion as well as masters champions will be crowned at the end of the series.
The series will be scored as follows: Top 10 males and females score in each live race with 10 points for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd and so on to 1 point for 10th place. Add masters category over 40
